Of course I would do a lighthouse. My avatar is the Historic Fairport Harbor Lighthouse. The Village of Fairport Harbor is located on the shore of Lake Erie at the mouth of the Grand River. The Morton Salt Mine is under the Lake & freighter ships can be seen being loaded with rock salt, on the West side of the river. On the right, freighters load & unload stone. There is also a breakwall light which is operational, automated, & is a summer home. There is a US Coast Guard Station on the river's West bank& they maintain the the light.
I chose this image because our lighthouse sits on top of a hill - known as the Beach Hill - and is now a marine museum open during the summer. You can even climb the 69 steps to the top of the tower. There are no windows in the tower and the view at the top is outstanding. I've been up once!!
If you are interested, you can see/read more here.
Thanks Sabrina for a fun challenge.
Thanks for stopping by.

First your card is lovely with the soft pencil coloring. There is something about a lighthouse image that is fascinating. Checked out the website for your landmark. It really reminds me of many areas around here with Lake Michigan. Many days we get a lake breeze around 2:30 in the afternoon. Enjoyed your card. Fav'd

I'm so glad you used the lighthouse image today, mdf! We're to get the rain you had recently, but right now it's very hot and sticky! Stay cool!

How much do I love this card? Let me count the ways...
1. The shape and font of that sentiment!
2. The soft coloring!
3. The super coastal image!
4. The seagulls which couldn't be contained inside the frame!
5. The dunes and grasses beyond the frame!
6. The slimline shape of the card!

How grand it must be to live close to a lighthouse on a hill. This is a beautiful card.

Well, I knew enough to expect a lighthouse from you () and am de-lighted to see it, but how interesting to learn about the salt mine too. I know there is, or used to be, one up in Northern Ireland. The concept of lakes being large enough to need a lighthouse is so strange to me, ours just aren't that big!
