Masculine Congrats

This card was made for a sketch challenge that also had the optional theme "Congratulations".

I've been wanting to make a diorama card for some time, but don't have any dies suitable. So, I used my Brother "Canvas Workspace" free software to create a cutting file with all kinds of undersea features including LOTS of bubbles! I cut this file out on my Brother ScanNCut digital cutting machine using thick white cardstock.

I then using blending brushes to color the diorama using both Ranger distress oxide inks and Stampin' Up! (SU) dye inks. After I finished coloring it, I spritzed water lightly over the entire diorama to leave water spots and smooth out the "sand" pattern at the bottom.

I used my SU "Seaside" embossing folder to emboss the front of the SU Island Indigo card base, then cut an irregular piece of SU Crumb Cake cardstock and embossed it for the "sand" strip to go behind the diorama per the challenge sketch. I glued the diorama on the card front, then glued a piece of vellum across the lower part of the front for a subtle horizontal element the sketch required.

The "CONGRATS!" sentiment was stamped onto SU Pool Party cardstock using SU Island Indigo ink. I then scanned and cut the sentiment out on my ScanNCut leaving 0.4" border around the letters. I cut two more of this same shape from blank light blue cardstock and glued to the back of the sentiment to give it added depth. Using the same scanned file, I added an additional 0.08" to the border and cut this mat piece out using the ScanNCut. The sentiment was then glued on top of the vellum strip.

Finally, I stamped the two fish using black ink with the retired 1997 "Fish Frolics" stamp set. The smaller fish is stamped on SU Groovy Guava cardstock, and the upper fish is stamped on SU Old Olive cardstock.

I like how the card turned out, but may modify the coral shape on the diorama to a branch type of coral the next time I use the file. I am rating the difficulty level as a "3" out of a possible "5" assuming you already have a diorama die on hand. If you have to create your own, the the difficulty would be a "5".

I think this makes for a nice masculine card that can be used for a birthday or other occasion where congratulations are appropriate.
