Karen is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week. She has given us the bold, bright palette of Gorgeous Grape, Pacific Point and Pear Pizzazz. The dessert option this week is: Anything Goes. For my dessert option, I have chosen heat embossing.
This writeup is titled "Never Give Up," and that's the story of this card. After the card was finished, I watched Gina's video where she says to die cut the butterfly first, then color. I definitely should have watched the video before I made my card!!!!
I started out by stamping the wing decorations because I wanted to heat emboss them with hologram sparkle embossing glitter. I was afraid if I did the background color first, the powder would adhere to it. The glittered areas were spectacular! So bright and sparkly! Then I used the stencils to blend the background color. That also worked, except the ink dulled the sparkle a lot. No matter how much I rubbed on it to remove the excess ink, the sparkle didn't come back like it had been originally. But it was good enough. . . .
Then I stamped the bodies and antennae with VersaFine ink and clear embossed. It was then that the AHA! moment occurred, and not in a good way. The dies didn't match! My fault! I should have die cut first, later fitting everything onto the predetermined shape. Oh, well, my trusty scissors to the rescue and a little fussy cutting, and all was well!
I stenciled on the white base layer with light gray ink, cut a black frame border, adhered the butterflies with foam tape and added some gems. This thank you note will go to my niece, and the message will be on the inside.
Thanks for looking! I hope you find some time to try out this week's colors! See you in the gallery!

The butterflies are beautiful Barbara as is your card. I like how you always seem to persevere when things don't go quite right, and your card turns out spectacular!

Oh Barbara, I feel for you with the struggles you had. Thankfully, your butterflies turned out beautifully, and I can see the yummy sparkle in your photo. A wonderful design against the neutral stenciled background!
