I made a resolution in January 2022 that I would try and use pattern paper from my stash for as many cards I make this year as possible. This Double Z-Fold card was made for a sketch challenge whose optional theme is "pattern mixing". The entire card (expect for the base) is made with Stampin' Up! (SU) designer series paper. I was inspired by a card on Judy Kettlewell's blog at: http://juliesjapes.blogspot.com/2019...ee-papers.html
Please see nearby posts for the view of the card opened up, and from the top showing the Z-Fold I created with circle dies (rather than a rectangle as Judy does).
Because I created the Z-Fold mechanism with circles, I had to cut two sets of large black circles from two pieces of 4-1/4"x 5-1/2" folded to regular A2 size, then the die placed so that part of the die hangs over the edge of the fold. This creates a hinged circle from each of the two black A2 sized folded pieces. I then glued the two folded pieces together overlapping the right circle of the left hinged piece with the left circle of the right hinged piece. You will need to cut the small slice of the center resulting circle of your z-fold to allow the three circles to fold completely. I chose a smaller die to cut my polka-dot and two white circles so that they would not need to be cut, but would remain whole circles when glued to the three black circles.
See the tutorial I listed above for construction of the card once you have all your pieces cut. The butterflies on the front were fussy cut from a sheet of the same SU "Botanical Butterfly" pack of pattern paper.
I am rating the difficulty level of this card as a "4" out of a possible "5" because I used circles rather than the much easier rectangle Z mechanism shown in the tutorial, and I went to a lot of extra effort to make the patterns match up exactly when the card is closed so it looks like a solid card front per the challenge sketch.
