I cut a panel of patterned paper from my scrap stash & temporarily adhered it to the front of a white side-fold card base. I opened the card, & used the window die to cut through the front. I also cut the window from Icy Mint cardstock, & another from a scrap of white. (Yes, I could have used the white die cut from the front of the card base, but it tore when I tried to remove it from the die.) Then I removed the patterned paper panel from my card base.
I wanted a snowy sky look in the window, so I used a trick I'd seen Jennifer McGuire do. I sprinkled white embossing powder into a 5x7" laminating pouch & ran it through my laminator. The heat melted the powder, & made it look like swirling snow. I adhered that panel over the window cutout in the card base, & adhered the patterned paper panel back in place, sandwiching the fused lamination pouch between. I glued the blue window frame to the plastic on the front, & the white window frame on the inside. I die cut 2 banners & sets of tails from white & Icy Mint cardstock. I stamped my greetings on the banners, & adhered them to the tails. I popped up the greeting banner on the front of the card with foam tape, & adhered the second flat to the inside, to hide the adhesive from the front one that showed through the window.
For my scene inside the card, I cut another card base to a folded size of 4x5". I also die cut 2 snowy hills from white cardstock. I inked lightly along the top of the front hill with Stormy Sky. I marked where the top of the back hill would go on my inner card, & used those marks as a guide for my ink blending. After I ink blended the sky, I added snow/stars by splattering on white craft paint. I let that dry thoroughly, then stamped & heat embossed the image of Santa & his reindeer flying through the sky. I made sure to put it low enough so that it would show through the window when the card is closed.
I adhered my snowy hills in place, & adhered the back of the inner card to the back inside of the card base. The inner card opens to give a place to write a message.
