2021BLITZ6 Barney's Biography Journal
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: papercrafter40

I didn't have a "good" (i.e. apropos) card for a journal, so I made my own. I decided to make a book to include photos, some journaling, & ephemera pieces about the life of our late cat, Barney. I haven't printed the photos yet, so this is just the "bare bones" book so far.

I created the main book first. I used a side-fold card base for the cover. I cut down a few 12x12" patterned papers to 8-1/2x5-1/2" for inside pages. Then I scored each of those at the 4-1/4" mark & folded them. I had a few patterned papers that I wanted to use that were only 8x8", so I cut a couple more card bases from white cardstock, cut the papers to 4-1/4x5-1/2", & adhered them to both sides of the card bases for more inside pages. I used the vellum to line the insides of the book cover. I added double-sided adhesive sheet to each vellum panel, & adhered them to the inside of the card base I used for the outer cover. Finally, I used my We R Memory Keepers book binding tool to poke holes for binding the book. I actually had to divide the pages in 2 groups, since they wouldn't all fit in the base piece of the tool at one time. I used the awl to poke holes through the spine, & then used waxed thread & a needle to sew the pages together. Finally, I cut a strip of patterned paper to cover the outside of the spine. I adhered it with double-sided tape to the back of the cover, and then glued it around the front side of the cover.

I stamped the cat onto bristol paper, & colored him to look like Barney with my Prismacolor pencils. I die cut that with a circle die, & cut a bit off the bottom, as per the sketch I used for the front design. I added patterned papers, again following the sketch, & then glued down my focal image & hearts I'd die cut from 2 of the patterned papers I'd used for the inner pages. And that has finished this book thus far.
