 | | Do I have A favorite Christmas movie? Are you crazy?! I am about as uninterested in movies as you get in this day and age, but come Christmas, there are several movies I make a point to watch EVERY year (and thank the Lord for a husband that wants to watch the same ones, too!). I remember seeing the commercials for the classics on TV as a child and making what were likely my very first calendar plans to catch them, like Rudolph (of course!), A Charlie Brown Christmas, and, one of my favorites of the favorites: A Garfield Christmas. (Back in the "olden days," like when Pluto was still considered an actual planet, I am pretty sure they waited until AFTER Thanksgiving to broadcast those to us, but in this day and age, since some of the best ones either are not on TV anymore, like Garfield- a tragedy if you ask me! - or are shown prior to Thanksgiving, we own all our favorites on DVD to watch in the appropriate time of the season, which include all of the above plus Elf! ... I like smiling... smiling's my favorite! hehe). I also grew up watching Christmas Vacation and Prancer (my mom's two favorites), but I admit they have not made it into my personal Christmas movie collection.
When I saw Kelly's Falliday Fest challenge, I knew I had to bust out my newest stamp set and make a snarky card in celebration of my beloved Garfield Christmas! I have a coworker and friend whose birthday falls just days before Christmas, and I know she'll get a kick out of this snarky kitty (inside reads "Happy Birthday," from SU's "All Holidays," in case you're curious.) Garfield, as you may well know, is quite the snarky kitty himself, and he starts in his usual crabby, "gimme" mood in the movie. Yet, at by the end, he comes around: "Christmas, it's not the giving, it's not the getting, it's the loving." Ahhh yes... I love that lasagna-eating cat!
I had a ton of fun creating this simple yet brightly lit card, and am so grateful to Kelly for such a FUN challenge!!! I just LOVE this time of year, don't you? All the better that we've got a sparkly white and beautiful blanket of snow here in northern MN already to help add the festive touch!
