Barbara has a holiday challenge with some classic Christmas colors this week. Since dessert is Christmas I passed on that for this card. Gold and Maroon are our Minnesota Gopher colors and I thought Shaded Spruce would work well for a football field. DH is a season ticket holder and football always works for his late November birthday. I thought the metallic form of gold would work here since the Gophers have been sporting some impressive metallic gold on their helmets this year.
I made the football by cutting a circle and then using the same die to cut away part of the circle to become football shaped. Drawing, stitches etc is by hand. I just got a t square and even though I'm not quite used to it I found it very helpful in "chalking" my lines.
It always feels good to get this one done before the holidays hit...

You are so creative, Chris! I love the football theme on DH's birthday card, and I know he will, too! Clever way to create the football and very realistic football field!

What a great card! Love the field and the football! I am a fellow Minnesotan, but MN Vikings fan. Not such a good season though. Anyway, I never see anyone make football themed cards. TFS

Great take on the colors for this masculine card. Thanks for sharing the tip on how to make the football. Your are a real inspiration to us stampers. Terrific job on the yard lines. TFS
