I had to give this some thought. I'm glad I did because I came up with something that interested me.
My earliest memories of her: seeing her beautiful sapphire engagement ring; me about 4 months pregnant with my Liz, lying in bed watching the wedding (they would have celebrated 40 years this past July); her funeral.
I looked at images of her, hoping for some inspiration. I didn't really want to do fashion because, truthfully, I didn't love most of what she wore. She certainly was an icon though and would have made wearing a paper bag fashionable. I still remember thinking as she got out of the coach, 'her dress is so wrinkled!!!!'
Then I remembered the remake of Sir Elton John's song 'Candle in the Wind' and there I went. The background and sentiment are from the PF set called Bright Night Sky. I stamped it with three DOx colors (including chipped sapphire), spritzing with water. I also splattered with some of the same colors. I embossed the vellum with a rose ef, since he called her an 'English Rose.' I also stamped the circle with a rose type flower, added a candle, heart and some gems.
I think she was a person I would have liked to talk to. Prince Charles, not so much. I think her boys have done pretty marvelously, considering.

I loved reading your thoughts on Princess Diana and how your card came together, Jean. This card is absolutely gorgeous - those blues! Using the vellum for that tipped panel was inspired!

Great source of inspiration, Jean. The background is amazing, mesmerizing. I like the vellum and single candle, and the little heart is a perfect touch.

Your muse led you down or upward the perfect path, bfnm! Isn’t it interesting how our memories link us in history. Love that bg and of course, Elton’s song is drifting across my gray matter…sparkle and shine, her flame burned out much to soon.

WOW what a work of art! The combination of blue and the different symbols representing her life really came together in the most perfect way on your card.
I like that your inspiration is the song "Candle in the Wind" and you went in that direction, Jean... the candle and embossed rose on vellum symbolizes Lady Di perfectly.
