My grandsons start back to school in less than 2 weeks so the timing on this is perfect for me. The academy they go to is all about the basics and require EVERY student to Read from an approved booklist for 30 minutes to an hour daily depending on grade level. This starts in 1st grade! and parents must sign all assignments and even have discussion sheets to interact with their child for each book they read.
Anyway - that's why I started with the bookworms - found some DSP that made me think of the paper we used to learn to print the "proper stick and circle" letters on then finished with the clock and apple cut from an ABC dsp.

This is awesome...so cute with those book worms! Kudos to your DGS school for making them read at least a half hour every day...as a reading volunteer at an elementary school I can attest that makes such a difference!

I managed to get a similar paper out for the challenge today, but that's as far as I got! I may just have to CASE your darling card for my granddaughters who love to read....no surprise, as their parents are both Literature/English teachers.

Cute bookwoems and sweet card. It sounds like a great reading program. I was just rewatching To Kill a Mockingbird, and there's that scene where Scout and Atticus are reading together and she says that her teacher told her they were doing it wrong. I remember those notebooks for learning to write in!
Wow! That sounds like the BEST kind of homework. In my opinion, keep the busy work at school but reading and then interacting with your child about what they have read is invaluable! Such a sweet card! I am all about those books and the worms!
