Toni is our WTUI challenge hostess this week, and I'm sure you'll agree it's a very fun and versatile one. I made this card as an extra, because recently I was revisiting Gem's shell technique (TLC627 : TLC627 ~ Seashells By the Sea Shore ~ {02/27/2017} by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers) and had a look through the gallery from the challenge. I was struck by Linda's card where she used a scalloped oval cut in two to create her shells, so that's what I did.
IO Mystic Mermaid, Art Neko sentiment. Watercolour paper, coloured the hair, arms, boulder and sand with Couleur DâArt pencils, then added a wash of pale blue Twinkling H2Os. Used gel pens for the tail and flowers. Base was smeared with Gelatos and stamped with a seashell in Archival purple ink. Nuvo Drops for the headband and jellyfish. A scalloped oval for the shells, cut, scored, sponged with distress inks and shaped.

This is a very clever response to the challenge. I just love that you made your own scallop seashells and they are perfect in the scene you have created.

Beautiful mermaid & I Love your seashells, Sabrina! I checked out the challenge using them, but I didn't make a card that day. Thank you for posting. I really like all the cards in that gallery creating home made shells.

Oh, I remember that shell making challenge! Your little mermaid is well served by the shells and pearl embellishments. Lovely card and thanks for the reminder of that shell technique!
