Chris gave some challenging (to me) colors this week, and I was skeptical if I can make it work. She did say that, "While we are seeing hints of subtle greens as the snow disappears we still enjoy crispy cinnamon colored scrub oak leaves on hikes around area lakes." The imagery conjured by her words made me remember a dp with birds, done mostly in browns and pinks. The leaves were not colored (you can see the original leaves in the fussy cut bird on the sentiment), so I experimented coloring them. Well, it began to look interesting!
To make a long story short, I ended up liking this color combination a lot! This is not my normal style, either - but I love it! I can see myself doing more cards like this in the future (whew! I can finally put that ribbon stash to good use!)...Thank you, Chris, for the challenge - it was good to step out of my comfort zone!

Gem, what a Beautiful piece of dp you have here! I Love your coloring of the leaves, Gorgeous sheer ribbon so not to disrupt the dp's beauty, and the Amazing sentiment! Very thought provoking; Love it all to pieces~

What wonderful coloring of those leaves! This card is almost magical .... it's so soft and appealing! Love the sentiment, too!

This is so beautiful! I love the whimsical birds. That lovely sentiment tucked away in the corner is so different- in a good way! Thanks for giving these colors a try and joining us today.

I'm so glad to read that you did end up enjoying your work with these colors. It really does show on your card. Playing with colors is what makes me love cardmaking and I confess that I think I know myself and what I I'm going to like pretty well. Yet, I'm always surprised how much I end up liking the combinations I struggle with the most.
