Chris gave some challenging (to me) colors this week, and I was skeptical if I can make it work. She did say that, "While we are seeing hints of subtle greens as the snow disappears we still enjoy crispy cinnamon colored scrub oak leaves on hikes around area lakes." The imagery conjured by her words made me remember a dp with birds, done mostly in browns and pinks. The leaves were not colored (you can see the original leaves in the fussy cut bird on the sentiment), so I experimented coloring them. Well, it began to look interesting!
To make a long story short, I ended up liking this color combination a lot! This is not my normal style, either - but I love it! I can see myself doing more cards like this in the future (whew! I can finally put that ribbon stash to good use!)...Thank you, Chris, for the challenge - it was good to step out of my comfort zone!

so pretty, Gem! I totally agree with your comments, these colors are quite a stretch for me as well. I like how you let the dp carry the color story and that sentiment...so true for us humans as well.

This is a beauty. Great coloring on the leaves. Love the addition of sheer ribbon. I'm very envious of your superb bow tying skills. That's something I really need to work on!

This is gorgeous -- the dp is wonderful but you took it up a notch by coloring the leaves. Love that you stepped out of your "zone" to create something new to you. You should definitely do more like this because it's fabulous. And, as usual, I love the quote you found for this card. It's perfect. I think I will start calling you the Quotemeister -- QM for short -- I bet QM sounds a lot like Gem. How did that happen? LOL.
