Okay - Daffodils are HARD!! Lightly sketched my blooms then started with my palest yellow and promptly lost all my highlights when I added the deeper tones. Now, I will say here that part of the problem may have been that this was the first time I tried my "holy moly $14 Princeton brush" instead of the usual aqua pen. The splurge was with a Christmas gift card. It will definitely take more practice to get used to how much paint it holds but the good news is my paper didn't pill with this brush.
Anyway, added and lifted paint until I got back some of the highlights, dried and started on the bg which I wanted more blue than green but colors had a mind of their own and there are at least some deeper tho subtle blue undertones. I did add kosher salt to my bg (and usually have great results with that technique but only got 2 or 3 spots today, so added a few Nuvo Dew Drops when the painting was dry and then spattered with Egyptian gold H2O's - not really showing in the pic but shimmery IRL.

A LOVELY JOB, Linda!!! This came out WONDERFULLY! LOVE EVERYTHING about this! And I have to say, using an Aquarelle Brush IS SO DIFFERENT from using a "normal" paint brush! YOU SO EXCELLED HERE TOO! (A SUPER SPLURGE!) And LOVE the ruffled edges of your flowers too! EXCELLENT WORK!!! ;) <3

Well, you certainly did a great job with the sketching and painting, Linda. I admit the daffodils were not the easiest thing we have done for WCW challenges. But, you aced it. I love your background and the pretty Nuvo drops you added. The curvy sentiment looks so pretty. Enjoy your new brush.

WOW!!!!!!! This is truly delightful. Sketching of the daffodils is wonderful. As I told Roberta..that's what I wanted mine to look like. You mentioned when you added the darker yellows you lost definition. Yellows are not always transparent as other colors. They can be tricky. Glad to hear about your new brush. It's a learning curve to have the right amount of water in the brush. Looks like you nailed it. Your background is striking as the artist's in the video. Happy you joined us again this week. It really is a beauty. Fav'd
Wow! Look at your amazing flowers! I am in awe! They are so beautiful and your greenery is too! The Nuvo drops are a perfect embellishment. You created an amazing watercolor!
