LeAnn is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us the lovely palette of Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss and Garden Green. The dessert option is "Anything Goes." My dessert this week is Ribbon.
Monkey See, Monkey Do! I watched Tim Holtz demo some new products from Ranger this morning, and in the process, he showed the Botanical embossing folder (not new) and a brayer technique. Hey, I thought, I have that embossing folder and a brayer; I think I'll give it a try. Wow! I am really pleased with the results. I brayered Blackberry Bliss all over the debossed side of the embossing folder and then ran it through my Big Shot with Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I was totally amazed at the coverage!
I must admit to stumbling a bit on the next step. I die cut the greeting from Garden Green cardstock and the shadow/background from vellum. I thought it looked good, but when I glued the vellum--tiny dots of glue behind the letters--but maybe not tiny enough!--the wet glue hit the Blackberry Bliss ink and liquified the ink. Ewww! There were purple ink blotches under the vellum, and it looked terrible.
Plan B, I cut the shadow from Shimmery White cardstock, and another greeting from Garden Green. I must say I'm not in love with the result. The white is very stark, although the white dots in the ribbon kind of tie it all together.
Well, that's my card for this week! I hope you'll try these colors and join in the fun!

Your inked embossing card is absolutely gorgeous, Barbara! I hear you on the vellum. It's so beautiful but can also be kind of finicky when you least expect it. I think the white does play on the ribbon , kind of giving it a rhythm so to speak.

Barbara your design looks soooo rich! The embossed panel looks like flocked wallpaper, just beautiful! Your sentiment turned out great, I'm sorry you had to take two stabs at it! Gorgeous design my friend!

Amazing card, Barbara. Love how rich the colors look. I'll have to try the technique using a brayer. I've had one for years but don't think I've ever used it. Thanks for the inspiration!
