This is a birthday card for my friend who moved to Hawaii when he retired. I try to make cards with a tropical flair, so as you would guess he gets a lot of palm trees.
I love the white space on many of the AI pieces I see so I experimented with trying to get a smaller ink blot and to somewhat shape it. I used my Copic reinkers because I can control the amount of ink a bit easier than the Tim Holtz bottles. My first attempt didn't really work, but I am very happy with this one. I am in awe of those like Jean (jkanack) who can actually paint with AI. Their paintings are magical.
I used the Mi Amor font to computer generate the sentiment. It's a really difficult font to read, but I thought it would look a bit like a wave in the water. It reads: Hau'oli La Hanau which is Hawaiian for Happy Birthday. Now that it's on the screen I can see I smudged it a bit too. Oh well, I guess that just makes it a bit more "watery". LOL.
Hope you are having a happy day today, too. TFL
