Today we are to be inspired by the artwork of Mary Nohl, who created with all manner of objects she found to recycle. Well, when I joined SCS 5 years ago, I found Steampunk and indeed one of the teapots looks to be made from rusted nuts and tiny pipes - that and Mary's vivid imagination inspired my card.
I started with a direct-to-paper technique dragging my 3 DOX colors over the watercolor paper. I then spritzed generously with water and laid a geometric stencil over the entire piece, weighted it down and set aside to dry. (Hoping for the look of rusty pipes when dry) In the meantime I stamped the facial features on scrap stock with heliotrope, then colored with prismacolor pencils, free handing the rest of the face and neck.
Next I stamped the watchworks on parchment (twice) and fussy cut various parts of the cogs, wheels and gears and die cut more cogs & gears from scrap stock. Attached the bg to my cardbase with bronze eyelets, layered on the face with mounting foam and Layered on the die cuts and watchworks. I finished the neckline with some "antique" lace (recycled from an old square dance dress) held in place by part of a SB curved border.
I computer generated my own sentiment, fussy cut and framed with a deckle edged scissors.
The inside says: "Let your Uniqueness shine!"

Coloring this timeless face so porelain-like is such a great contrast to her brilliant and symbolic hairdo. It all pops from your etheriel pipeish bg. Making her eyes so crystal blue really does poetic justice to Mary's ability to see art in everything. I love this creative tribute!

This is a piece of art. Fabulous execution of your design. I agree with Artzadoni that coloring the face porcelain is such a beautiful juxtaposition to the gear-head hair. And the sentiment is brilliant. Wonderful inspiration piece.

Love where Mary’s muse took you, Linda! Every element so evenly weighted for an Uber cool whole. The ethereal woman is a beauty. We know all those inner workings that grid her.
Awesome.
