MIX416 Wood and Grass
Added to Favorite

Photo Details
Poster: Cook22

For Dina's Well, Wood You ? MIXed media challenge to incorporate woodgrain.
She listed several tutorials, and funnily enough, I came across an unfinished piece using Gina K's painted wood (if that's what it was called) technique in my backgrounds box just yesterday. But I also have several sheets of this homemade faux wood which I accidentally discovered some years ago when I was trying the faux barnboard and mixed my reinker in directly with the PVA. I was doing this again recently, and my bottle of PVA cracked in two so I have several sheets in my stash . I stamped that with Hardwood in Staz-On, and added the grass and border at the top because the stamp isn't the full size of the card front. Rebuilding my scripture stash, so I pulled out this stamp (with a matching inner) and some old grass stamps to pair with it. They're slightly rock and roll to get a bit of colour on them. Layered on a deckle rectangle and foam for dimension. The bird was cut from the same failed card front as the grass - it was a sky with bokeh dots stencilled over it.
So, I used glue, DOX inks, re-inker, StazOn and Enamel Accents, I think I'm well mixed.

Sabrina, this is incredible!!! May I ask - what is "PVA?" I'd love to learn more - that faux wood looks better than printed cardstock!

Thanks so much for sharing!
Blessings,
C

Isn't it wonderful how ink can make grass and a bird different colors out of the same piece! Your wood turned out really well - great BG for the bird. That bokeh dot fell in the perfect place to highlight his wing.
