 | | LeAnn is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us the lovely palette of Seaside Spray, Rococo Rose and Night of Navy. The dessert option this week is "flowers." To complete my card, I also added the neutrals Very Vanilla, and Merry Merlot.
I used (for the first time!) a die that I bought probably a year ago or more. I decided I wanted my flowers to be shiny, so I used a new-to-me technique that I love: Faux Heat Embossing. I covered each small piece of colored cardstock with clear packing tape, and then die cut. All the petals are shiny, easy-peasy!
But what a surprise when I discovered the die doesn't cut out a flower; it cuts out 5 heart-shaped petals for each flower! Wow, not what I expected at all! What to do?!?! I grabbed a piece of scrap cardstock and cut the die to make a kind of template, throwing away all the extra little heart-shaped petals. I taped the template onto my white card, then glued in all the little hearts, one by one (inlaid die-cutting), and then removed the template. That worked well, and I've saved the template for future use!
Added a greeting and some gems, backed with a piece of navy cardstock and then mounted on a white card base.
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!
