Too Much of a Good Thing is a Good Thing

I don't know if I agree with my title, maybe I did too much. But I do like to pull things out of my bag of tricks so actually there are three different techniques going on. I'm going to blame Sabrina, since I was influenced by a card of hers in the technique gallery, created in 2016, and she used Tyvek on that card.

There is today's TLC-faux cloisonne. This is probably one of the first techniques I ever did, maybe even before SCS. I thought it was splendid, still do. I used an old calendar page, mostly blue, a little purple. I have known what cloisonne is probably from the day I was born. My grandparents loved beautiful things from all over the world and my grandma explained what cloisonne meant. I have a couple of pieces myself.

Lori gifted me with some of her stash of Tyvek a while ago, I immediately made two pieces and then never used them. Very fun to watch the Tyvek melt and bubble as you hover your iron over it. I love the contrast between the big bubbles and the center part, which is very tiny and textured. My background piece is a gel print with the metallique paint and some DOx sprays.

I thought that must be Tyvek! I have a painted piece all waiting to heat and see what it turns into, plus someone sent me stuff in an envelope which I spotted was Tyvek so I kept it. It's a fab combination with the cloisonne. I too don't remember ever not knowing what it was, because the clock on our sitting-room mantelpiece was cloisonne, and my mother had several pieces of jewellery...A calendar - now why didn't I think of that. I will next time, as I have a sheaf of pages sitting over in the corner. The background is amazing, it's like a cloudy sky. The crescent shape of the floral spray makes me think of a moon, for some reason.

You know what, I thought it was a moon and needed to scroll back again after reading Sabrina's comment, and saw the floral spray. I never heard about tyvek so I can't talk about it but it looks great like malachite stones, very artsy creation

What fun you must have had, bfnm, creating this. I love that Tyvek looks like river pebbles. Beautiful Cloisonné. Makes me think of the first piece I owned. A lovely Japanese vase. The staples look right at home.
