In honor of National Wildlife Day yesterday, for the Polly's MIX. I don't have a lot of animal stamps, for some reason, they don't call to me. I guess I prefer the real thing. I've been lucky enough to visit the Schlitz-Audubon bird rescue in Milwaukee and a raptor education place in Antigo, WI. Raptors are so beautiful...did you know that to be called a raptor, you must catch your food with your feet?
This is also for today's IC: https://pippinpoppycock.com/mood-boa...-carousel-4144
Someday I will see a snowy owl. They are hard to spot, they don't roost in trees, they might sit on a fence or on the ground. In the winter, very hard to locate. They don't seem to be as nocturnal as other owls. I used the background stencil with DOx inks (I've used that stencil for flames but I think it looks like feathers also), trying to imitate the colors in the inspiration photo. Then I stenciled the tree in black, fussy cut out the owl after heat embossing in white. Owls are considered wise and any cartoon with an owl seems to portray them as very learned, full of good advice.
I love the mood boards on this site...I think I would like that job of pulling out the colors represented.

This is wonderful, Jean! I love the bg & that owl is fabulous. Hmmm..the raptor part..my 2 mini macaws have beaks like Fred Flintstone pliers & when they grab onto something..well, it's not pretty. We're always calling them our velociraptors.
What a great sentiment! Too bad we can't have "time's" advice right when we need it! Your card is so striking with the patterned background and I love the owl.

Oh, I love the idea of seeing a snowy owl in the wild. We've seen them a couple of times in bird parks. For my birthday a few years back we went to a raptor centre and I was able to hold one of the owls -so, so soft. And so light, compared to one of the hawks. What a great stencil - I can see it working well for flames.
