Dina asks us to honor avocados today and include a round, brown circle. My first impression was "brown and green, yuck, what a weird combination", but when I spied this scrap of batik fabric in my stash I thought "you know, it's a warm color combination that you just don't think of very often". So, whilst staring at that fabric for a while, I started pulling open drawers to see what might call to me. The twines caught my eye and I pulled out about 5 reels. Trinkets in bronze--ok, how about leaves? Definitely want to put some sparkle on this--gold ribbon. Mixed media is flat without some goop: get out the paste box. Chocolate and gold, perfect. The TH stencil with round mosaic. What else is there around here?
So, with absolutely no idea in mind, this montage came together out of bits and pieces. In spite of my initial dead brain, I really like how this turned out and plan to mail it to a long-time friend who just reconnected. Thanks for looking.

That is fabulous. The gold frayed ribbon looks gorgeous, and your twine flower with the little leaf charms was a brilliant way of incorporating a brown circle.
