I used a Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends marker to color the ribbon (it was originally Very Vanilla). I used the brush tip and lightly ran it over the ribbon.
The edges of the patterned paper were sponged with Soft Suede ink.
The three branches were made by coloring directly on the red rubber with Stampin' Write markers in Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, and Crumb Cake. Then I breathed on the stamp to re-wet the ink and stamped it on Very Vanilla cardstock. I did this three times total. A wet brush was lightly brushed along the branches to bleed the color a bit.
I tucked some Gilded Gems in among the leaves of the branches. The branches are glued down only at the base (under the ribbon) because I wanted to leave the top parts "fluffy".
All images are cut by hand but there are dies for them (Christmas Cardinal by Stampin' Up!).

WOW! That Gold Metallic Edged Ribbon that you colored with Cherry Cobbler Blends is GORGEOUS. I looked through the Holiday Catalog TWICE before I realized you had created it! TFS! :-) LM

I love Christmas cards with cardinals and this one is gorgeous, Nicole! The buffalo plaid on the background is perfect with the cardinal and I love the foliage for the strips on the sketch!
