Ah, 1968....I was about to go into my junior year of high school. It's kind of funny, I was more of a folk song girl, you know, civil rights, protest, antiwar, but when I looked at the list of top 100 songs, I knew a lot of them. Don't ask me how, I didn't listen to the radio much.
I chose Fool on the Hill, written by Paul McCartney and re-recorded by Sergio Mendez and Brasil '66. It was a top 10 song in 1968. I had forgotten how much I loved that song and Brasil '66. Love that Latin feel. McCartney was inspired to write it for two reasons: the Beatles had started to follow Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who came across as a 'fool' because of his giggle, but was really a wise man. Also McCartney, during a walk with his dog, saw a man suddenly appear and then disappear. One wonders what Sir Paul was smoking. But anyway, there is a line in the song about the world spinning round and that's what inspired this card. This is also for today's FS, cathymac. Hard to believe she's never been FS: TLC746 Color My World by cathymac at Splitcoaststampers
Instead of a globe, I used an armillary sphere (I hope this is right) which shows the stars and constellations. My card is less colorful; I used a bubble painting for my background. Different layout too.

Love the substitution of the armillary image for the globe on this wonderful CASE, Jean! Thanks for sharing the story of your inspiration and for helping me celebrate today!

Jean I enjoyed reading the story behind the song and how it is one that you actually enjoyed as a teen. Very interesting! And your card is lovely - the Theodore Roosevelt quote is great! Thanks for jamming with me in the Summer of '68 VSN Challenge!

Awesome, Jean! I always get Sergio Mendez and Herb Alpert confused
Both had great contributions to music though and I love your card. Anything Beatles is good with me. They are my favorite band of all time, followed by Jethro Tull who came a bit later in the 60's. Such awesome music we had, have done my best to share it with my son. Am loving this challenge and all of the creativity.

Watched a Beatles movie yesterday and then listened to a bunch of their songs afterward so I think it is cool you were inspired by a song written by Paul. Very cool card, great image, super bg, and great sentiment. Hugz
