I've combined today's two challenges with this square card that uses a stencil. I wanted to use these cute birds that Heather (justampin) sent to me. But I didn't want to make them blue. Instead, I made them goldfinches because I've seen quite a few in my yard this year. SC207 is a square sketch so I used that one with masking some white stripes between my stenciled rectangles. Ky has challenged us to show how we are finding our way and to use a stencil. I find a lot of comfort here on SCS because nothing has changed here. We've all be socially distant here and yet I feel so close to you all. That is what inspired me to make this card for Heather using the images that she sent to me. Cardmaking and mailing cards to all my friends and family are a big part of what is anchoring me right now. I'm also big into very bright and cheerful colors, but then again I always am. I used my ScanNCut to cut the birds and flowers and glued them on a blue sky background. It seemed a little naked, so I finger painted some fluffy clouds. I wanted to add Stickles to the flower centers, but can you believe that I don't have any hot pink Stickles? Looks like I need to do some more shopping.

Send us some of your goldfinches! We haven't seen ONE this year. Your card with the bright bg and those little goldies is so sweet!

Oh, cool. I like the way you used your stencilled background in blocks. I enjoyed your write-up, too. Pretty birds, they look good as goldfinches. When I see yours, I wonder how on earth the European ones came to have the same name.
