Anita aka Snietje has given us a fun challenge this week for Teaparty recipient Lori in Canada. Instead of holidaying in Mexico, Lori is sadly battling breast cancer.
Snietje gave us two beautiful pictures to take our inspiration from. Extra cookies for using a shell on your card. Clearly I won't be getting extra cookies!
Before the lockdown, I swapped a box of dies with a girlfriend, so I have been very busy diecutting anything not bolted down, before I have to return them.
I die cut heaps of dodgy mixed media scraps. As stand alone pieces they aren't any good, but once die cut, the weirdest scrap takes on a whole new look.
The background was an experiment to see what alcohol ink does over the top of acrylic paint and gesso...long story short, I won't be doing that again, but it did make for a great background for these bright houses.
Thank you for looking and stay safe.

Love, love your colorful houses by the sea! A great place to be to watch my little sailboats racing by in the regatta! :-) I do love this background, so glad you do the experimenting for the rest of us! :-)

Well those dodgy scraps make a beautiful seaside town. And the colors are as festive as you would see in a Mexican town like Mazatlan. I understand not wanting to attempt a stamping experiment again, but this background looks super so you might want to rethink that. Love the doodling for the waves. You really nailed this challenge. Lori will be beaming when she sees this delight.

Miss Susie, I beg to differ with you as the background came out neat and pretty esp. for the coastal town you created---such a color happy town--- us Teapotters could move there and oh what fun will have and hmmmm maybe get into trouble---great card.

Whatever the long story was, the short one is that it makes a beautiful background indeed. And oh my, loving your bright colourful die-cuts. What a great idea to do a swap like that. And isn't it wonderful that dies or punches can transform rejects into things of beauty.

I love your Mexican Village, it looks really like the picture colorful and on the rocks, okay I will not try your technique which made certainly a fun background for your village but I love the rich colors in the houses, I like you didn't get out all the little windows, I'm sure Lori will love this!!

What a beautiful oceanside town you have created. Reminds me of a tropical Newfoundland scene. :-) Your die swap sounds intriguing - I certainly spend some time when I am with my scrapping friends stealing die cuts from their stuff. The swap would take the pressure off, ha, ha! Lovely card!
