When I saw Polly's Mix challenge on Friday, I knew I wanted to try it but Friday I was busy all. day. long. So, today, I finally took a chance to play.
Have you ever made a card that was so far out of your comfort zone you couldn't even see the boundary? This would be one of those cards. I had a lot of fun, I'm not entirely sure it works but it was fun to make.
I started by cutting a watercolor panel the size of an A2 card and stamping the face from Winter Wear on the right side. I proceeded to paint our family favorite colors in uneven stripes across the front. My next step was to doodle more hair. I decided I wanted to add colorful trees, so I stamped Circle Circus images on card stock that matches my stripes and then punched them out with various circle and scalloped circle punches. I punched the Tree Builder trunk for each "tree" and put them together. I adhered them to the panel, popping the blue tree up with a dimensional.
I thought the purple was a bit dark so added white circles with a white gel pen. I doodled the border around the panel, white dots in the blue stripe and white lines in the red stripe.
I think it meets the colorful requirement and was fun to make. Thanks for the challenge, Polly, I hope you like my result.
Thanks for looking.

WOW Catherine you nailed it! The bold colors are wonderful and your curved lines are exactly what Hundertwasser was about. The trees are fab and I love how you added the extra lines on the hair and in the red section. This is really well done!

This is the greatest art of all, the ones where you just have more fun with the process that the piece just orchestrates itself into a masterpiece simply out of the fun of going with the flow of the shapes and the colors. I think too often we try to keep such a control on creativity that takes a lot of the fun out of just the process of making. Just playing and having fun in the elements is like a kid having fun in a mud puddle. I love the results of your fun adventure.

Catherine, I love the trees and your bright colors and the checkerboard border that you doodled. Fun. I know exactly what you mean, I was completely out of my comfort zone too. Great to see you on zoom today!

Catherine, this not only works, it is AMAZING! I loved reading your thought process, and I was so surprised to see this was out of your comfort zone. It is truly sensational. If I made this I would have it hanging in a frame before the paint dried. I have a full set of Gansi Tambi and so far all I am capable of doing is patting the box! This is such an inspirational creation Catherine. TFS

What a delightful card. I so see bits of him in this with the colors, the wavy lines, the trees, and the person's face. He would approve. You did a fabulous job, Catherine. I am very impressed. Hugz

Wow Catherine, er Picaso! I am so amazed I am at a loss for words. What a fabulous, creative work of art this is. I would say you were in your artistic flow and more comfortable with it than you thought! I am truly impressed! ~Karen.
