When I started doing art, particularly Zentangle, with my good friend Mary, my original intent was to work on drawing and painting with watercolors. That has fallen by the wayside until earlier in 2020, when I asked if we could freehand paint something. She really hadn't done something like this for a while either so it definitely was a learning experience. These are supposed to be magnolia like in shape. We used angled and round brushes to create the shapes. I'm not sure that it's that great and I really don't have any intention of becoming a painter. I'm perfectly happy Zentangling away and adding paint to those. I stamped the hummer in the London fog and added some greens and pinks to him with colored pencils. I added some of the stormy sky at the top and the frayed burlap for the 'dirt' at the bottom.

Jean, I think this is gorgeous and dare I say, ethereal looking. I am wanting to learn more about freehand watercolor too, so you are inspiring me to "just do it" and see what happens. This is fantastic and frame worthy too! ~Karen.

Maybe they were supposed to be magnolias, but they turned out to be asiatic lilies and they are beautiful! I love the hummingbird and especially love that sentiment! It reminds me of my mom. She used to make cross-stitched pillows for a store in NYC and one of them had this saying.

you are amazing...fearless explorer! I love that you are always trying something new. What I like about this card (other than the quote) is the depth you created through the whole panel. And since there are some 200+ varieties, I'm betting those petals more similar than you know.
