No stamping is always a big challenge for me. I don't have a ton of dies and I really love to stamp and color. So I decided to use that Rebel Butterfly die for the first time. It came in a grab bag that I bought from Spellbinders. I can't resist a grab bag. I love to be surprised. I don't really like this butterfly. It's just not me. But I needed a sympathy card for my sixth grade math teacher whose husband just passed away. I found a paint swiping background in my background drawer and cut out the flowers to stick on my cloud background. Then I found a frame in my basket of negative die cuts to frame it. I already had this "thinking of you" pattern saved in my ScanNCut, but it turned out to be pretty big and I didn't want to cover up my flowers, so I realized this was going to have to be a 5x7 card. I cut a blue card base for my 5x7 card and stenciled a soft background. I don't know that this would have been the stencil that I chose for this, but it was the biggest one I had to stencil a 5x7 card.

I like the stencilled blue background combined with the cloudy layer...and I LOVE the butterfly, although I see it as more of a bat - except for the antennae. A nice Gothic bat.

Very pretty sympathy card, Jen! I like the stenciling with your sponged clouds and how the butterfly and sentiment create a balanced look on the card. You aced the No Stamping Challenge!

Wow Jen! This is a really gorgeous sympathy card. You sponging is absolutely flawless and really makes for a wonderful background and scene for your lovely butterfly. ~Karen.
