This is a group of cards I made practicing with some watercolor. These are inspired by Nicole Watt at Pixel Maven’s Retreat with a walkthrough on an episode of . The episode was a great time for card creation ideas with help for color and sketch challenges. It was a look at putting ideas into action.
I chose Cotton Candy, Coral Berry, and Moon Rock from Altenew’s 36 pan watercolor set. I switched from the cardstock I was using before to some 90lb watercolor paper. Following the same steps as the previous cards, I just painted the stripes mimicking the sketch. The practice helped to give me an idea of the difference between the papers. I cut the two panels down to leave an eighth inch border and attached them to some cardstock and then a cardbase.
A different challenge on this set was to layer some thin hello die cuts to add to the strip. I’ve used the larger matching hellos but avoided these since they were so thin. I did struggle a bit getting them matched up and glued. A few ended up torn, but I just kept cutting more and trying again. The thin strip is stamped with a “missing you!” sentiment from the stamp set.
These were another great practice. The color shows up a bit better on these. If I had a do over, I’d stagger the color a bit better.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a moment to take a closer look at my cards.
