MIX373: Celebrate Spring
MIX Elements: Paint, Ink, Gesso
A few weeks ago, we went to a flea market in Mobile and a man was giving away books that had been damaged due to being left out. I grabbed up a very old children's book with some beautiful images in it. This deer and the printed words are from it.
It was fun creating this one and hearing the birds chirping this morning. I started by using gesso on my bible page. Then I put on a little ink. Then decided to paint an embossing folder and stamp it all over to make the sky. I did my ground with some old paint brushes. Added in a few flowers too since we are going with Spring today. Cut out the deer and the words and affixed them with gesso too.
Thanks for the inspiration, Polly.
I don't remember ever knowing Psalms is more than one book. Psalm 66 starts Book 2. This Psalm is about longing for God. I think these troubling times are the perfect opportunity for us to focus more on God.

A wonderful find, Nancy. Some children's books have the loveliest artwork....in fact, the Caldecott Award is given each year just for this. Your page is beautiful recycling these beautiful portions of a book. You created a wonderful bg for them.

What a precious scene with that leaping deer. I have a few old children's books that I raid for script and pictures...they add so much. I like how you stamped with that embossing folder...it creates some fun texture. I love hearing the birds in the morning, too...

This is a page out of my book, literally. I love to use old books for various projects. Thanks for the reminder that I have a cute old children's book that would be perfect for today. I'm happy to see that you are back to your original user name. No more **************************************************

You're making me SMILE, Nancy! This is BEAUTIFUL! SO GLAD you were able to find these sweet books! They DO WORK SO NICELY with your Bible Journaling & you are SO RIGHT! Focusing on God right now is the key! Listening to HIM as to what we are to do, to make ourselves what HE WANTS! A TIME TO BE STILL & LISTEN! ;)<3

A beautiful Psalm to highlight and lovely illustration with your deer and the words from the children's book - we certainly do need to find our hope and serenity in God during these times and during better times!
