Can't believe it, but I'm making Christmas cards in February!!! I usually wait until June or July before starting for the upcoming holiday season!
This card was made for this week's 52 Christmas Card Throwdown Challenge #6-20, which required the use of three shades of blue for their February color challenge. I used five - three for the wreath and two for the papers!!! You can find the challenge here: https://52cct.blogspot.com/2020/02/f...challenge.html
My card also features "oldies, but goodies" retired Stampin' Up! (SU) stamp sets and designer series pattern paper. The wreath set dates from 2014, the sentiment and 2005, while the pattern paper is from 2010!
The wreath is really easy to make with the bundle of matching stamps and die cuts. I used Versamark to heat emboss the darkest leaves and berries. Just ink your stamps with Versamark, then ink again with the Pacific Point, then stamp as usual. I dusted it with clear embossing powder and heat set to get the darker glossy look.
The main panel is SU Whisper White to which I added a thin mat of SU Night of Navy before matting with an even larger piece of a blue herringbone paper from the 2010 SU "Sweet Pea" pattern paper. The wreath was mounted using adhesive foam strips to raise it and the bow off the paper for added interest.
The sentiment at the bottom is from a cute 2005 SU stamp set called "Sleigh Full of Toys". It was inked with the darker Pacific Point as well, but not embossed.
Because of the matching dies, I am rating this card as a difficulty level of "2" out of a possible "5". Of course the different layering of colors and heat embossing made it a bit more difficult than a beginner card, but not something to be afraid to attempt if you have the matching dies. If you don't then fussy cutting the wreath would work just as well, just more time consuming.
