I used gesso for the background then just randomly used a sponge to add color swipes and stencils. the bird is colored in alcohol ink. I did change the eyes slightly to match the sentiment strip. Then sprayed with sealer. This is out of my comfort zone so it was difficult for me but the technique is simple

Sure can't tell it was out of your comfort zone. It is a super mixed media card. Plus, I had a big chuckle over the sentiment.
