Lisa is hosting this weeks terrific Teaparty on behalf of our very own Teapotter Lori (aka ArtzodoniStudio).
Lori's sister-in-law Sandy and Sandy's hubby Dave need some paper hugs. Sandy is recovering from 2 broken ankles!
Sandy and Dave live in Apache Junction, AZ and are both accomplished artists. With this in mind I aimed for an arty background with a southwestern feel.
This background is living proof that weirdo arty mixed media stuff makes itself. I squirted blue and green Dylusions inks on to a large sheet of aluminium foil, then squirted on a lot of water.
I dunked the glossy photo card into the puddle and quickly wiped it dry with a tissue. I repeated the process using re-inkers in similar colours and once again wiping it dry with a tissue.
Using a new sheet of al foil I repeated the process with purple inks. I tried to apply some white distress paint, but the foam topper was rough and just scratched the purple. I like the effect so I left it on.
I finished off with another sheet of foil and used red, orange and hot pinks sprays and re-inkers. Using new sheets of al foil stop inks merging and making mud.
I love this horse and drover die by the Aussie company Paper Roses (enabled by my Aussie mate Helen).
This card is jetting it's way to Arizona. Thank you for looking and I hope you get a chance to join in.

My gosh, you've done it again- an amazing background! Still waiting for your video! Sunset and sky are just stunning- no matter how you did it. YOU are amazing! What a powerful effect.

Wow Susie, your sky is a kaleidoscope of colors and patterns. That along with your cowboy camp silhouette makes me want to break out the harmonica and play Home on the Range!
Sandy and her DH will be very pleased and comforted with your card.

I was intrigued to see this after reading the write-up in my notification email (yay). Gorgeous. And wow, you're so right about leaving the white. It's like lightning (and I'm sure the rain would be welcome to that cowboy so long as he's got shelter). Totally fantastic, Susie.

Gorgeous background (not sure what weather is heading over that horizon though, could be a storm on the way!) and that die cut is a perfect complement to it - beautiful card Susie!

That sky is incredible! I love the effect of the crusty white paint streak...it's hauntingly perfect for your cowpoke and his best pal. That die cut is fab! Do you own stock in the aluminum foil company down under? You must buy it by the case! lol

Miss Susie this die cut is terrific and the BG colors are so amazing! Sandy and Dave are going to love getting this stunning card in the mail. I love the effect of the scratched purple layer it gives the sky more dimension on the card. Sometimes something unexpected happens when we are creating and it turns out gorgeous, like this card and the colors. Thank you so much for playing along.
