Lisa is hosting this weeks terrific Teaparty on behalf of our very own Teapotter Lori (aka ArtzodoniStudio).
Lori's sister-in-law Sandy and Sandy's hubby Dave need some paper hugs. Sandy is recovering from 2 broken ankles!
Sandy and Dave live in Apache Junction, AZ and are both accomplished artists. With this in mind I aimed for an arty background with a southwestern feel.
This background is living proof that weirdo arty mixed media stuff makes itself. I squirted blue and green Dylusions inks on to a large sheet of aluminium foil, then squirted on a lot of water.
I dunked the glossy photo card into the puddle and quickly wiped it dry with a tissue. I repeated the process using re-inkers in similar colours and once again wiping it dry with a tissue.
Using a new sheet of al foil I repeated the process with purple inks. I tried to apply some white distress paint, but the foam topper was rough and just scratched the purple. I like the effect so I left it on.
I finished off with another sheet of foil and used red, orange and hot pinks sprays and re-inkers. Using new sheets of al foil stop inks merging and making mud.
I love this horse and drover die by the Aussie company Paper Roses (enabled by my Aussie mate Helen).
This card is jetting it's way to Arizona. Thank you for looking and I hope you get a chance to join in.

This is wonderful Susie - you beat me to it - I had everything out to start when your card loaded - change of plans. I love the white in the sky - can't make up my mind whether it is a storm coming or the last little trickle of light before darkness. Either will do for me. Another gorgeously rich background sky.

Wow, your bg looks amazing with all the incredible colours, Susie, looks like stormy skies developing to me! Great use of this Paper Rose die, I had mine out to use but haven't got around to creating due a migraine & life in general! Hopefully, in the next day or so I can get into my craft room~

This is SO STRIKING, Susie! I think Sandy & her hubby will LOVE THIS! LOVE the background you've created! It looks like a STUNNING Sunset & even with clouds! ;) Your Aussie drover & horse are PERFECT for this! I am ALWAYS IN AWE of your artsy genius!!! ;) INKY HUGS for coming over to visit! <3
P.S. Susie, do you always use glossy card stock with the Dylusions? I picked up a couple of bottles back when, because of your work & haven't even taken the plastic wrap off of them! LOL ;)

WOW - And excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the keyboard!!!! I have actually been privileged to see a REAL sunset like that here in Texas - out in the middle of nowhere oil county (the more pollution the prettier the sunset!)

They are going to FLIP when they get this card in the mail Susie. Even with Sandy's bum feet...I think she will still flip! Confession: I intended on making an arty card too because, you know, they're artists but my mojo just wasn't having it. Your background is AMAZING and looks fabulous with that diecut image. You rocked this challenge and I'm designating you MVP this week. ;-)

I am just amazed at the stunning BG you created! The colors change in the perfect place for the fantastic die cut. It even looks like smoke in the sky where the oranges meet the green and purple! Those scratches in the purple just give the sky an ominous feel! So glad you left them in. Who makes that awesome die, btw?

Awesome! Just awesome, Susie! Wow, what a remarkable background for the splendid silhouette die cut, which I LOVE! The colors used for the background are very striking and I love the scratched on white paint on the purple. It gives an amazing look to the sky. As usual, another Susie masterpiece! Hugs!
