I actually took inspiration from one of my older cards for this one. I was looking for card designs to make for my counselor & 2 friends, and found this one on my Pinterest board. I made a few changes from the inspiration card, and voila!
I began by taping a panel of watercolor paper to a cutting board with delicate surface painter's tape. I inked it with Cracked Pistachio & Mermaid Lagoon, creating a gradient. I sprayed the living daylights out of it with water, and sprinkled on sea salt. Then came the hardest part--waiting for it to air dry! I supposed I could have helped it along with my heat tool, but I didn't want to blow all the salt off. LOL
After the panel had dried, I brushed off the salt. I die cut the panel with the "Big Hello" & "Postage Stamps" dies at the same time. I made sure to keep both the positive & negative pieces of the word die cut. I also die cut the hello from a piece of black fun foam that I'd applied Stick It adhesive to both sides of. To keep the foam from losing its shape, I adhered a piece of black cardstock to the back before die cutting. I then layered the positive "hello" I'd die cut from my watercolor panel onto the black, sticking it into the exposed adhesive. Once I had it all lined up, I burnished it with my Teflon bone folder.
I adhered my watercolor panel to a piece of black cardstock I'd cut to 5.5x4.25". I glued the fun foam-backed hello word into the negative space, then glued the inside pieces for the letters directly to the panel (i.e. not popped up). Finally, I adhered my card front to a white card base, and I was done! A pretty easy card to pull together, and, other than waiting for the wet panel to dry, not too long to assemble!

What a beautiful card, Andrea! I love the background and have yet to try using sea salt. I sure would love to do that though. And I really love how you've used the "hello" die. Thanks for the details about keeping all the negative/positive pieces and how you used the black. I love it! Hugs and love! xoxo
