For MariLynn's Evertying Old Is New Again MIXed media challenge.
I have acrylics, alcohol inks and Brushos, so plenty of mediums.
For my old with a new twist, I pulled out my fantasy film and did something I've never done before with it. (And this is something I have used up several rolls of!)
I cut a piece of thick chipboard and covered it with gesso, then when dry with white acrylic, over which I sprinkled some turquoise and sea green Brushos and mixed them in.
When this was dry I spread it with gel medium, added a few loose Angeline fibres and then stuck the sheet of fantasy film down. When it had dried, I blasted it with the heat gun till it started shrinking and developed little holes (a bit like Tyvek does). At this stage I still wasn't sure if it was going to end up with a dragonfly or as an underwater scene, now I knew.
So I cut seaweed from some green textured paper and stuck it on. Added Prills for sand. My seahorse is cut from a piece of Brusho and starch cling-wrap background, and his mane is alcohol inks on Yupo. There are also some very discreet tiny fish cut from more of the Yupo swimming around.
I added SN clear glitter to the seaweed, and added some clear and blue sequins, Edged it randomly with white paint and stuck it onto a Bazzill cardfront, adding more sequins.
Because the film has such shimmer I am uploading two photos, one with it angled to reflect the light, which you can see HERE.
