Well, pencil coloring takes a LOT longer, and I am still working on my technique. So if you look closer, some of the areas did not get burnished as well. (But I have been doing more after photographing this card.) Anyway, this is the second new digi, and I had to laugh. I don't really care much for bugs other than butterflies (we live in South Florida where bugs thrive year-round). If you look carefully, there are three "bugs" in this digi. The one I was struggling with and left to the end was the one I ended up liking the best. Haha! If you know me, I find lots of photo references in an attempt to color my images as realistically as possible (for me anyway). This is not how I started out, but it is what I ended up with. Near the end I tried to bring the image together by pulling in colors from other elements. For example, I ended up using Ombre coloring for the sentiment. But it was coloring the Luna moth that brought some sense of unity in my mind. I think they are in love with one another...perhaps? Haha!
I decided to use a piece of DP that I remember seeing in the stack of papers I've been cutting from 12x12 to 6x6. I have no idea what it is, but I matted the image with Neenah colored with a Copic marker and then used the DP with the same mat. I think it softens the card a bit. I shall continue to work with my pencils and learn with each new project. Coloring is such great therapy for me - it's so relaxing. I hope to do at least one more of the five new digis. Note: Be sure you get your free floral digital download along with the free Kit and Clowder class. Stop by Power Poppy where the digi will always be free to download. How cool, right?
As always, I truly appreciate your taking a closer look at my card. I hope you like it and have a wonderful rest of the weekend. Keep cool for those in the Western Hemisphere and warm in the Southern Hemisphere. One of our Australian friends reminded me that she is cold! Hard to imagine here in the States and in Canada, right? Hugs, all my precious friends...all over the world! xoxo

Absolutely gorgeous Cheryl! Irises are one of my mum’s favourites so I’m always drawn to iris images and yours are so beautifully coloured. The DP is perfect too, it makes for a lovely feel to the whole card.

Beautiful card Cheryl! I think you'd a great job of coloring..the flowers are so rich looking..I especially like the moth but yes, I do see the other two bugs. I don't envy your So FL bug population...our summers are burdened with the dreaded mosquito (the unofficial MN state bird)...Thanks for sharing this lovely card today.

Oh so beautifully colored, Cheryl! I absolutely love that dsp you chose for this too and your multi colored sentiment. I have been thinking that I could cut my 12x12's down to 6x6", but still not sure about doing that.

Oh my gosh, another beauty Cheryl and such a treat to be blessed with another of your cards. I love the dp background paper, it adds yet does not take over, and of course your flowers are beautifully done. I did some pencil colouring last week too ... yes, it takes ALOT longer, but still relaxing.

Your coloring is LOVELY!!! I haven't done a lot of coloring with pencils, but the little I've done I have enjoyed--working with gamsol. What do you use to burnish your images? How do you do this? I thought that caterpiller looked VERY realistic--it almost made me shudder but in a good way!!! The moth really morphed well into the flowers and leaves. That gorgeous DP looks like beautiful, vintage wallpaper and suits the floral image perfectly. And the ombre sentiment, wonderful! Cheryl, you are such a talented artist, it's a joy to look at your work!!! Power Poppy is so blessed to have you as one of their design team!

wow. I did not see the other 2 bugs till you mentioned it!
I was too busy admiring all those frills you did for the iris!
The moth blows me away-so delicate and the blending is fantastic!
I may go check out the class-it will be my first one with them!
