Well, pencil coloring takes a LOT longer, and I am still working on my technique. So if you look closer, some of the areas did not get burnished as well. (But I have been doing more after photographing this card.) Anyway, this is the second new digi, and I had to laugh. I don't really care much for bugs other than butterflies (we live in South Florida where bugs thrive year-round). If you look carefully, there are three "bugs" in this digi. The one I was struggling with and left to the end was the one I ended up liking the best. Haha! If you know me, I find lots of photo references in an attempt to color my images as realistically as possible (for me anyway). This is not how I started out, but it is what I ended up with. Near the end I tried to bring the image together by pulling in colors from other elements. For example, I ended up using Ombre coloring for the sentiment. But it was coloring the Luna moth that brought some sense of unity in my mind. I think they are in love with one another...perhaps? Haha!
I decided to use a piece of DP that I remember seeing in the stack of papers I've been cutting from 12x12 to 6x6. I have no idea what it is, but I matted the image with Neenah colored with a Copic marker and then used the DP with the same mat. I think it softens the card a bit. I shall continue to work with my pencils and learn with each new project. Coloring is such great therapy for me - it's so relaxing. I hope to do at least one more of the five new digis. Note: Be sure you get your free floral digital download along with the free Kit and Clowder class. Stop by Power Poppy where the digi will always be free to download. How cool, right?
As always, I truly appreciate your taking a closer look at my card. I hope you like it and have a wonderful rest of the weekend. Keep cool for those in the Western Hemisphere and warm in the Southern Hemisphere. One of our Australian friends reminded me that she is cold! Hard to imagine here in the States and in Canada, right? Hugs, all my precious friends...all over the world! xoxo

One day my dear friend we are going to get to color together! And when we do, do you think we'll get much coloring done or will we be chattering so much the day will slip away? (she smiles). This is a lovely card, and I've taken as close a look as my old watery eyes can. Here are some areas that I really like: Tulip (the shading as it changes from the stem into the bottom of the petals, the highlights on the Iris, and the luna moth. I also love the caterpillar! The patterned paper used frames the piece so beautifully too. Pencil sure takes longer, but you're right, it's such a satisfying medium to use!

Cheryl, this is EXQUISITE...your coloring and choice of colors is absolutely beautiful, and I so love your patterned paper bg! The lavender mat layer and cardbase that peeks out along the panel edges set off your card to perfection. Just EXQUISITE...I love irises!

This is a stunning card, Cheryl. I love that digi and how you did an ombre technique for the sentiment. You always use the most wonderful papers, also. Oh, bugs.......the only ones I don't mind touching me are butterflies and ladybugs. Ha
