For Polly's Color on Color MIXed media challenge today I decided to pull out two bird stamps and make Christmas cards. I used the pencil shaded watercolor tutorial which she linked to (though I didn't emboss or stamp in white). If I'd had my brain properly engaged this morning I would have done the watercolour layers and left them to dry before going to make desserts for tomorrow...as it was, I didn't get upstairs till after noon.
Image stamped on watercolour paper, then coloured with Winsor & Newton AWC. When dry, I added shading and depth with Polychromos pencils.
Spritzed with water after masking off the bird and sprinkled some blue bister over.
Added white acrylic for the snow, and some Stickles. Glossy Accents on the beak.
Distressed the edges, and popped it up on a base which had been covered with BoBunny paper and edged with a gold pen. Originally I didn't have a sentiment on this one but I decided it needed it, so I stamped two little LOTV tags and added them with a twine bow, gold Stickles on the star.

Love your card, Sabrina! I always loved this stamp and should have bought it when I first saw it. Love bird stamps for the holiday season! Your card is gorgeous and looks so real with great colors! Never would have thought about using pencils for the shading of the watercolor. You should be teaching a class!!
