We were talking about moving to a retirement-friendly home some day this week, so it got me to thinking about moving (our 8th time in 45 years). That made me recall that I had a 1993 "We've Moved" stamp from Stamp It! With that in mind, I recalled that I had a cute retired (1995) Stampin' Up! called "Wood Shelf Boarder" with lots of little houses. And thus, a card design was born!
Using my MISTI, I stamped the row of houses onto SU Whisper White cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Then, again using the MISTI, I lined up the cute wooden shelf underneath the houses and stamped it with Stazon Timber Brown ink.
The houses were hand colored with a variety of Copic markers, and the shelf was colored with SU Stampin' Write Creamy Caramel (pre-2000), and Close to Cocoa markers.
The sentiment was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black below the shelf.
I matted the SU Whisper White panel with SU Real Red cardstock using Tombow glue, then wrapped the matted panel with SU Linen Thread, and tied a simple bow. This decorated matted panel was then glued to a standard A2 cardbase made from SU Kraft cardstock.
The card came together pretty quickly. The hardest part was trying to decide what color to make all the little houses :-D So based on this, I am rating this card a difficulty level of "2" out of "5".
If I ever do need to use this card, I think I'll make photocopies, rather than do all the hand coloring - otherwise I'd never have time to get everything packed for the movers! :-D
