Polly is hosting this weeks lovely teaparty for a dear little girl brought to our attention by Jacqueline (thank you both for all the details about what Payson loves).
Young Payson recently had her second heart operation. Among her many loves is ballet lessons with her cousin Maliah, and the colour purple.
The two little dancers here started out life as a digi image by Mo Manning, printed onto copy paper then couloured Prismacolour pencils and Zest it pencil blend.
Highlights on their tutu's were done with a dark purple Inktense watercolour pencil (I didn't use any water though as it makes the paper lumpy, that is probably the only downside to using copy paper).
To get the shiny look in their hair, I was very heavy handed with the blending pencil - the harder you press with the colourless blending pencil (and Zest it pencil blend), the more shine you get.
Highlights on the hair were done with a brown Copic maker (E39). Copics over the top of waxy pencils results in a great shine, it can also result in ruining your Copic nib, so I don't recommend this technique if you love your Copics as much as your first born.
Next step was to fussy cut the girls, before doing this is swished a walnut stain distress ink foam pad over the entire image - it take that "just coloured" look away. I then went to my stash to find a suitable background and simply sat the girls on heaps of different backgrounds to see what worked (and what size card to make).
This piece made me think of sitting outside and looking at a magical sky, so I added a hint of trees with the dotty tree stamp (I stamp it upside down as the trunk is a bit dodgy looking).
The girls are adhered with a glue stick, ensuring that the entire back image is covered with glue as this prevents air bubbles. I then applied a really thick layer of sparkly Stickles and doodled a border. I will allow 24 hours drying time before I post this LOL.
Thank you for looking, I hope you have a happy, inky week.

Oh Susie, this is gorgeous!!! Look at their beautiful sparkly tutus - the best bit about the very brief time I did ballet was my tutu, LOL. It was one of the years my mother had pneumonia so I was able to give it up easily when it was more practical just to go straight home from school, and I can't say I minded. It's wonderful that Payson's cousin is here too. And as always your background is just magic.
12 seconds...I couldn't have said much sensible in that length of time! DH once had a big job done by a Scottish dentist and her lovely accent somewhat relieved the stresses of the sessions .
