For Love a Technique challenge in our Summer Lovin' theme, I went with the amazing Magical Mermaid stamp set and used the Acetate & Tissue technique. You can find the tutorial for this technique here:

Acetate & Tissue Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

For my mermaid panel, I stamped the mermaid in StazOn Jet Black ink on a Window Sheet. I also stamped the seaweed in Emerald Envy and Lemon-Lime Twist on the piece of Whisper White cardstock that gets glued behind the mermaid. I also stamped the water drops/bubbles in Bermuda Bay on that piece. [After the glue made the ink bleed, these have turned into kind of faint imprints. I really like the look! I did three others that turned out with darker imprints.] I flipped the mermaid sheet over, covered it with a lot of glue from the Fine Tip Glue Pen, and added two drops of Pool Party ink to the bottom half and three drops of Pink Pirouette ink to the top half of the panel. I smoothed the colors around with my fingers and quickly cleaned my fingers with a baby wipe (but you can do as the tutorial says and wear gloves if you prefer). Then I sprinkled on a decent amount of Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I crinkled the tissue up, opened it back up, and placed it on top of the colored glue, then flipped the whole thing over to glue it to the piece of stamped Whisper White cardstock. This takes quite a while to dry. After it was dry, I cut it out with the largest oval from the Stitched Shapes framelits -- you may have to run this through several times.

Since the mermaid tail was cut out of the picture, I made a second one. I stamped the tail in Archival Basic Black on Whisper White cardstock. I used ink from the lids of my Emerald Envy and Lemon-Lime Twist ink pads with a Blender Pen to color in the tail. I fussy cut the tail out, covered it with glue from the Fine Tip Glue Pen, sprinkled on more Dazzling Diamonds (I decided she will be a Fancy Mermaid), and let it dry. After it dried, I stuck the fins to the card base with Mini Dimensionals and adhered the top of the tail to the Window Sheet with the Fine Tip Glue Pen. I didn't like how the top of the tail looked, so I stuck a sequin over the V.

I really liked this technique. I've wanted to try it for years but never got around to it.

Wonderful card. Your colors are so watery-looking and perfect for that image. Thank you for explaining your process. And thanks for sharing this tutorial.
