I've never died anything with tea before, so this was a fun challenge for me. The lace came out alright, but the ribbon didn't seem to want to absorb the colour. I don't know anything about tea, or fabric or dying things so I'm not sure why.

What a beautiful card! I love that image and the brown and cream tones! Many (many, many) years ago I had to die the ribbon my mother was using on my wedding dress with tea to match the purchased ribbon when we couldn't get enough of the right colour. Now that brings back some old memories!

Sounds like your ribbon is non-absorbent, Jo. Beautiful dye job on the lacy piece, and it looks great tied with the ribbon and flower! Leaving the bride and groom uncolored shows purity~ Lovely creation!

There's a big difference between the way synthetic and natural fibres absorb any pigment, so that might be it, if your lace was cotton? I always warn DH when he wants to dye jeans or a shirt that likely the thread, being polyester, will stay close to the original colour - he never minds, but I would. But actually here I really like the contrast with the deeper tea-dyed lace (looks like a tied-back curtain revealing the romantic couple). And that white flower is beautiful!!
