Wow, I really got some serious cardmaking exercise with this sketch. A lot more going on than I'm used to, but I love it! I did chicken out on the top stitching, though. I was afraid I'd break my sewing machine.
I've made this card for Christine, my friend and Zumba instructor, who is now fighting through her fourth week in ICU. My heart breaks for her. She had a beautiful baby boy four weeks ago and spent a few days with him, but when she brought him to the pediatrician they saw symptoms of sepsis and sent her by helicopter off to the hospital in Providence. She was rushed into emergency lifesaving surgery, but suffered cardiac arrest immediately after. She spent two weeks in a coma.
She is a fighter! So I knew just what to do with this free image from Tiddly Inks. It's been released to support Design Team Coordinator, Lou's fight with cancer. I've added Lou to my prayers.
I found this quote from "Rocky" online and also googled "Sepsis Awareness" to decide what colors to use. I got back red ribbons with a black stripe. So that's how my card came together for my dear friend who is fighting sepsis.
In the last card that I sent her, I told her that actuaries and cardmakers around the world are praying for her. If anyone would like to also send along a card please PM me or send me an email ([email protected]). And please say a prayer for Christine to get home to her 1 month old baby and six year old daughter.

Gorgeous card, I hope she loves it! Will keep her in my thoughts...its so rare these days that things go so wrong in a childbirth that it's life endangering, so it's extra shocking and scary. Hope she is able to get back to her family soon!
