Card made for Sunday Stamps Color Challenge #139: http://sundaystamps.blogspot.com/ which challenged us to use at least three colors for an array of fall colors in the challenge.
I've been wanting to try the "Crinkled Cardstock" or "Wilted Lettuce" technique for some time. The challenge colors made me think of fall leaves, so it seemed a perfect opportunity. For a tutorial on it, visit: Crinkled Cardstock Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers
My card base is 5.5"x5.5" Early Espresso square with a Very Vanilla front panel matted with Chocolate Chip. Each subsequent layer is .25" smaller than the one beneath it.
The top panel was randomly stamped using the "blobs" stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge set. I used Crumb Cake stamped off onto a scrap paper to make the pattern light. I also stamped twice horizontally using the "linen" stamp from the Oh So Lovely set.
The Very Vanilla panel was wrapped 3x with jute twine and secured with the Tear & Tape Adhesive tape on the back. The three strands were cinched on the left front of the card with a simple overhand knot.
The leaves were first stamped onto each of the three colors of cardstock (Rich Razzleberry, Hello Honey, and Cajun Craze), then after they dried thoroughly each leaf was hand cut (no dies available for this 2000 retired Autumn stamp set). Each leaf was folded, crunched, scrunched and smashed to soften the fibers in the cardstock, and to create ridges like a fallen leaf would have. They were then attached to the card front using Mini Glue Dots. It is important not to try and flatten the leaves when you attach them.
The sentiment is the top half of a stamp from SU's Thoughts & Prayers. I used masking tape to cover the lover part of the stamp so that only the "Thinking of You" was inked, then removed the masking tape and stamped onto the card.
I like how the colors came out and how lifelike the leaves appear. The only hard part was the tedious hand cutting of the three leaves. I'm sure the leaves will flatten somewhat when I mail the card, but their fibers are so broken down they will retain their wrinkled look.

The lovely mottled background really caught my eye. Your dimensional leaves really pop off the card. Thank you for joining Sunday Stamps this week.
