I designed this to reflect the hole left in our hearts and lives when a beloved pet passes on - the puppy is actually stamped on a sheet of paper which is a folded insert in the card, stuck along the fold, so the whole inside is still blank.
First I created the card front, cutting an aperture in both the DP and the card front. I used a scrap piece of kraft embossed with Hardwood to make a little scalloped frame for it, sponging it with walnut stain to improve the contrast. Edges of the DP are also sponged. I added a couple of chevron stripes along the top.
Then I cut the insert, folded it and put it inside the card so as to position Puddles correctly. He's coloured with Polychromos pencils, and I just sponged in some colour behind him.

Super adorable card Sabrina for someone that has lost a pet. Love how you have this with the hole in the card and the image tucked in to show the hole in our hearts when we lose a fur baby.

Oh, sweet Sabrina, this is just adorable and the perfect card to comfort someone who has lost a precious and beloved pet! I love how you've used the striped DP and also added stripes in the "floor" where he/she is sitting! Beautifully done! Hugs, sweet friend!

This little pup is so sweet. I love the thought that went into this pet sympathy card, Sabrina. Nice striped paper too.
