WooHoo it is Tickle a Teapotter time of the month where we send cards to each other. Wanda (my adopted sister since her dear mum Jan aka Heartsong aka de mama, kindly took me on as a mature age orphan about this time last year) is hosting a super fun tickle this month.
Not wanting to be disrespectful to the story of Noah and his Ark, I have created a card about Bertha, Bert and the SS TPT. Bertha is all dolled up in her new gingham halter neck top, pleated skirt and matching hat, she had enough material left over to make a casual pair of shorts for Bert (although they don't look like shorts now that he is floating in a life-buoy). Bertha had been planning their cruise for months and months, Bert wasn't all that keen but he subscribed to the age old theory...happy wife, happy life!!
Life wasn't so happy when they discovered that they needed Passports!! Not wanting to disappoint the bride, Bert devised a way to have an ocean holiday. I think they look rather happy.
Now about the card. This is 'almost' the hinged gate-fold that Sabrina showed in yesterday's terrific TLC579 challenge here . Before adhering all the panels I coloured them using the recent TLC577 Smackin' Acetate technique. Using a piece of acetate packaging, I scribbled a blue Tombow marker all over the acetate (in even lines back and forward) then lightly spritzed on some water then placed cardstock onto the acetate. I finished by lightly spraying the card with some more water and also flicked some water on it until I had the desired effect. Air dry.
The SS TPT was made by roughly drawing a semi circle onto a piece of dp and adding a bit of distress ink and roughing up the top edge with a blade. The wheel-house of the boat is actually a tiny little die-cut house; I think it is a Marianne Design die?? I scrubbed some distress ink on it, then rubbed an eraser over it to make it look like a weathered matt finish.
Bertha and Bert were coloured with Distress Inks and an aqua pen, fussy cut, then dressed by me. The life buoy was hand drawn onto a piece of red cardstock. I went slightly nuts with 3D crystal lacquer to look like ocean spray. The Poppy Stamps wave border die was attached to all panels. Job done.
I had a heap of fun making this, especially knowing it was going to a fellow Teapotter. Thank you for looking and have a lovely week.
Edit: Following Sabrina's encouragement I am including this in the TLC challenge. I should point out that it does not fold square, it folds to an A2 size envelope.

Fun card Susie. Hope Bert's boardies are tied on tight around his waist - he he. Love the mascara on the eye lashes. I think it always pays to check if you need or even have your passport with you - I don't think I would like to be travelling in life preserver class on board the MSS TPT.

Susie...I Love your whole concept, and what you've done to pull it together is Amazing!!!!! I can see you've put a lot of work and love into this card. That wave border die works so Perfectly with this! Your SS TPT is Genius!!! However, I beg to differ with you.....I think Bert is in B-I-G Trouble! Those four little legs do not have a "relaxed and enjoying it" kind of look. They have a stiff and panicky kind of look. And Bert looks quite apprehensive....as well he should be. These two are wet and cold, and being tossed about in those Beautiful waves (I Really Love those waves) they may soon be unpleasantly nudged by the SS TPT. Hope they've kept their insurance payments up to date. I imagine Bertha may be concerned about sharks nibbling on her freshly manicured toes. I think you have your rose colored glasses on today, Susie. Happy is not the word that first flew into my mind when I saw this delightfully garbed couple afloat in their dilemma.
I absolutely LOVE your card, Susie, and I apologize for adding all this drama. Sometimes I just can't control myself.

Oh My Goodness, Susie! Now this is one of Cutest couples I've ever seen on a life raft floating in the middle of who knows where attached to an Ark at that! I just hope the trip isn't 40 days for their sake! I mean, how are they going to sustain themselves! This card just makes me smile...Love the ocean bg and waves in the foreground. Your ark is the cutest, complete with weathering, sponging and personalized with the tea potters stamp of approval! Looks like those waves are really rockin' the boat~

LOL, I'm so glad that this cropped up when I did a search for the TLC keyword, even you though haven't keyworded it for the challenge- because when I saw it this morning, I thought "Why is is only "almost"", it looks all the way to me. Go on and add the keyword, Susie!!
And it's all the way delightful, whoever gets it will be thrilled. Love your use of the wave die, and your cute ark. And that background is over-the-top a beautiful blue sea. It reminds me of Greece. Bert looks so different with his crew cut hair that it took me a minute to figure out which bird he was - only the fact that it rained on him recently helped me identify him without getting the set out. Their outfits that Bertha made make me think of The Sound of Music.
Your crazy birds always catch my attention with great creativity! This is absolutely the greatest! Thanks for sharing, I will now be smiling for the rest of the day.

I can't stop laughing, Susie!! It started with that fantastic title! And then reading the story made me laugh even harder! You are a remarkable story teller as well as an amazing artist! I love this card! I have to say that Bertha and Bert look a little startled at learning they don't have their passports!! FANTASTIC, my sweet friend!! BTW, those waves are fabulous!

Susie, this is sooooooo cute, love your ark and Bert and Bertha--do not think this was how they were to be when heading for the ark. Smiling here and anyone would love this as a tickle.

You have a new title, Crazy Birds Artist Extraordinaire! Once again, you've taken it up a notch with your creativity. Love how Bert looks like a muscle man with the lowrider shorts and slicked down hair and Bertha looks so impressed by her marvelous man. Pinned and faved!!
