I'm a retired librarian so my professional instinct is to rebel against cutting a page out of a book! But I did it today for the Ways to Use It challenge - we were challenged to make cards with book pages or print.
I have an old copy of the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady. It was discarded from the library because it was falling apart. I found a page in the entries for the month of March that refers to various birds' nests - perfect to use with my stamp of bird, nest, and blossom.
I used mixed media cs for the image as the Zig brush markers work really well on it. And it's a fairly heavy cs so works well when popped up on foam tape. I painted it quite pale first as that's the look I like for blossom, but it looked lost against the book page so went over it all more heavily - and now it looks too bright!
I sponged the edges of the piece of the book page with Distress Brushed Corduroy and then splattered some watered down ink over it.
I'm stamping Happy Easter inside it and give it to my best friend's mother who has invited me to Easter brunch. The dates on the book page are so perfect for it! Ironically my BF's mother is also a retired librarian so I'll see how she reacts to a page cut out of a book!

This looks wonderful Susan and I don't think that your coloring is too bright at all! I like that it stand out from the book page so beautifully and love the spring colors you chose. The splatter is perfect. I did smile about being a retired librarian and objecting to tearing a page out of a book. Thanks for the chuckles.

Beautiful card with the torn page. I'm sure she will be ok with you using a book page, when she sees the beautiful card. Fantastic coloring on the image. TFS

Susan, this one stole my heart immediately! Yeah you for being brave. I have my grandmother's copy of this book and I cherish it. Love all the serendipities in this card. It is sure to please the intended.

What a fantastic page to go with this stamp of the bird and nest! Your coloring is beautiful and I don't think it's too bright. I like the contrast! I hope your dinner host appreciates the card and does not get upset about the book. I'm sure when she knows it was falling apart she will be glad it was put to a good use.

LOL, a couple of times I've tried returning retired library books that I had taken to bring home, and wondered why they didn't scan back. I love books and it took me a long time to become comfortable with using them for my cards. I'm glad you had such a perfect book, love the are d splattering to age it even more. Some of the illustrations in that book would be great to use for image transfer!
I'm in the camp that doesn't think the image is too bright at all.
