Pay tribute to "man's best friends" - our pets
I made this card in tribute to a wonderful friend who keeps me (and a lot of other people) well stocked with home-canned pickles, relishes and jellies. The funny thing about this is that I had to borrow the canning jar die from her - which isn't really funny, except I gave it to her in the first place!
I printed the striped paper, die cut it, determined the placement for the shaker window and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment. I cut the shaker window and lined up a piece if craft foam behind it so I could trace the die placement on the foam I cut and embossed a piece of acetate for the window and attached to the back of the stripe with Sookwang tape. I die cut the foam and attached it behind the acetate. I applied Sookwang tape completely around the opening on the back side of the craft foam in preparation for adding the shaker elements.
The hearts were die cut from red Shimmer Sheets with an IO cut-out die that cuts several sizes of hearts. I used a small alphabet die to cut several Xs and Os from black cs and added red and white beads that I had on hand. The liner was gently removed from around the opening and a piece of patterned paper attached to form the back of the jar. I attached a small piece of metal tape to a scrap of heavy cs and die cut the lid, attaching it with liquid glue so I had some wiggle room to position it properly. I added the punched border and baker's twine to finish the card front. This is attached to a white heavy cs base.
I can't wait to give this to my friend - I think she'll get a real kick out of it!
As always, thanks for looking!

Love this shaker card! Your background diagonal stripes are fabulous ( I love diagonals). Love the idea of the X and O'x along with the hearts. The jar top look so real.

I love shakers! Can't do one worth a darn but I have always loved them! This is beautiful! Not only an unusual shaker shape, but you managed to balance it with everything else on the card! Just amazing!!!!

How I LOVE that canning jar that you fashioned into a shaker card! This one is brilliant, Jody! I still can't figure out how you did it but what a fabulous effect! What a great card for her. I am another one who can't do shakers! Right into favorites!
